Advantages, Disadvantages, and Improvements of Safety Sliding Contact Lines in Applications
Safety sliding contact line is a new type of mobile power supply device, which gradually replaces the old exposed angle iron and copper bar sliding contact lines due to its superior performance such as insulation, safety, temperature resistance, vibration resistance, and energy saving. The safety sliding contact line uses smooth and flat T2 copper bars embedded in engineering plastic tubes or trough plates, or aluminum profiles with wear-resistant conductors, as current-carrying conductors, combined into a power transmission conduit. The conduit has an open slot at the bottom to facilitate the operation of the current collector, and the high wear-resistant copper-based graphite brush of the current collector directs the power to the working electrical equipment.
The use of safety sliding contact lines brings safety to the workshop, but there are also disadvantages. During the use of bridge cranes, the current collector is prone to power interruption, sometimes sparks are generated inside the power transmission conduit, and in severe cases, a "bang" occurs in the sliding contact line, causing frequent replacement of the current collector and affecting production.
To this end, the following improvements have been made to the safety sliding contact line: increase the chamfer of the current collector brush and polish it smooth; increase the spring strength and elasticity between two opposite brushes of the current collector to ensure the spring recovers freely; deepen and reinforce the spring seat in the current collector to ensure that the recovery spring of the brush does not easily "displace" during work; the connecting block at the joint of two sections of the safety sliding contact line should have a chamfer to ensure smooth transition of the current collector. At the same time, to ensure the normal use of the safety sliding contact line, standardized operation by crane operators, regular maintenance by maintenance workers, and regular inspections are also essential.
