According to statistics, the average hospitalization cost for acute appendicitis in Beijing's tertiary hospitals is 4,513 yuan. In this quarter, a total of 16 hospitals had hospitalization costs below the city's average, accounting for 73% of the publicized tertiary general hospitals. Among them, Beijing Huaxin Hospital had the lowest average hospitalization cost, at only 2,912 yuan. The Beijing Municipal Health Bureau yesterday published the results of a survey on the costs of six diseases, including acute appendicitis and goiter, in major hospitals in the third quarter, to facilitate patients' choice of medical treatment. The results show that the average hospitalization costs for the six single diseases have been on the rise, but compared with the second quarter, the cost indicators have slightly declined this quarter. Comparing secondary and tertiary hospitals, the average cost difference for the six single diseases is 1,491 yuan. An itemized analysis shows that the main increases are in drug costs and treatment/examination fees. The average length of stay remains basically unchanged. Deng Xiaohong, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, introduced that currently, the bureau mainly selects six diseases with the most inpatient surgical cases and the fewest complications, including acute appendicitis, goiter, uterine fibroids, benign ovarian tumors, as well as cesarean section and ectopic pregnancy, and publishes them once a quarter to facilitate citizens' choice of medical treatment. Peking University Third Hospital had the lowest average hospitalization cost at 6,221 yuan.
