Comparison of advantages and disadvantages between copper conductor busbar and aluminum conductor busbar

Advantages and disadvantages of copper conductor safety busbar:

  1. Since the copper conductor busbar uses T2 purple copper material, it has good electrical conductivity, low resistivity, long-distance transmission, and low electrical loss. At the same time, the contact surface between the copper conductor busbar and the collector is copper-to-copper contact, which has better electrical transmission performance than aluminum conductor.

  2. Due to the properties of copper itself, the copper conductor busbar can be applied in special environments, such as workshops with water vapor, dust, and corrosive gases in relatively harsh environments.

  3. The accessories of copper conductor busbar use copper materials, which can also reduce electrical loss. The service life of copper conductor busbar in indoor conventional environments is about 10 years.

  4. Since most copper materials in China are imported, and copper is more scarce than aluminum, the price of copper is about 3 to 4 times higher than aluminum.

  5. Since the copper conductor busbar is in direct contact with the collector without a wear-resistant layer, its wear resistance is not as good as that of aluminum single-pole.

Advantages and disadvantages of aluminum conductor safety busbar:

  1. The aluminum single-pole safety busbar conductor uses 6101A professional conductive profile, which contains copper elements, and has higher electrical conductivity and lower resistivity than other similar aluminum profiles. Of course, compared with copper conductors, aluminum has higher resistance than copper.

  2. The aluminum single-pole safety busbar slot is embedded with 304 stainless steel strip, which can improve the wear resistance of the busbar, and its wear resistance is better than copper. At the same time, the 304 stainless steel strip can also enhance the mechanical properties of the busbar conductor.

  3. The price of aluminum conductor safety busbar is lower than that of copper conductor. In conventional workshops, using aluminum single-pole safety busbar can reduce costs for enterprises and improve the utilization efficiency of the busbar. The service life of aluminum conductor busbar in conventional workshops is about 10 to 15 years.

  4. The shells of copper conductor safety busbar and aluminum conductor safety busbar use the same material, which has flame-retardant properties to ensure their safe use.

  Application suggestions:

  1. If applied in conventional workshops (without corrosive gases and water vapor), Dema Electric suggests users adopt aluminum conductor busbar.

  2. For workshops with a length exceeding 150 meters, such as a 260-meter-long workshop, with three-wire system installation, it is recommended to add 6 temperature compensators to prevent the busbar from deforming due to thermal expansion and cold contraction caused by indoor temperature differences.
