On November 1st, the steel beam south bank side span and approach bridge of Pier No. 3 of Anqing Yangtze River Bridge on the Nanjing-Anqing Railway were successfully connected.
Anqing Yangtze River Railway Bridge is an important part of the Nanjing to Anqing intercity railway and the Fuyang to Jingdezhen railway. The bridge spans 2996.8 meters in total length. It is a cable-stayed bridge with two towers and three cable planes, with the two main towers being 210 meters high and the main span being 580 meters. The south bank side span connection is a key node in the bridge construction. Under the premise of ensuring the connection, the construction personnel set a new construction record of erecting one section of continuous steel truss girder every four days. The successful connection of the steel beam south bank side span and approach bridge of Pier No. 3 of Anqing Yangtze River Bridge laid a solid foundation for the closure of the main span by the end of 2012.
